1. What is the significance of International Women’s Day to you?
After graduating, I remember being told that as a woman I should work harder and perform better if I wanted to be evaluated based on the same standards as a man. Fortunately, I have been in many good companies and have worked with great bosses that have taught me well and supported me through my career.
To me, celebrating International Women’s Day is important to remind all young women out there that they should not have to work harder and put in more effort simply because of their gender. They should instead focus on doing a good job, work hard and constantly learn new things.
2. Do you have a female role model that has inspired you in your life/career?
I do not have a specific role model but I am always inspired by the other female leaders in Zuellig Pharma that are all very capable and down to earth. They are always willing to share advice and provide support to anyone in the organisation.
I also enjoy reading motivational books and having conversations with people around me about life and work. This really helps me view things in different perspectives and understand the bigger picture of things.
3. What is your experience as a female leader in Zuellig Pharma?
I joined Zuellig Pharma 20 years ago, starting first in IT before transferring to Operations and eventually becoming the Operations Director in Zuellig Pharma Korea. I was lucky to have met nurturing bosses and helpful colleagues that allowed me to chase my career aspirations and learn many different skills.
Therefore, as a leader, I want to also create a similar environment for my team. Where I empower them to grow in their roles and become the best version of themselves. It is important for me to believe in my own capabilities and skills to build trust and lead my team for greater success.
4. Based on your own experience, what advice would you give to women considering to pursue a career in Operations?
Always keep learning! Start by building a solid foundation in Logistics then constantly learn and upgrade your skills and knowledge. Always plan before you start a project, carefully and efficiently execute it then challenge yourself to improve the process.
